Definition: Microsoft SQ


A family of Qualcomm-powered ARM-based processors from Microsoft for its Surface-branded Windows tablets. The SQ family is based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon systems-on-chip (see Snapdragon). In 2019, the SQ1 debuted on the Surface Pro X, followed by minor improvements in 2020 with the SQ2. Two years later, the Pro X was replaced with the Pro 9 in three CPU versions: Microsoft SQ3, Intel i5 or Intel i7. See ARM and Surface Pro X.
